Yesterday....
...was hiring day for the uber-n00bs for faire. I couldn't remember how long it took me to get to the site, so I woke up my brother and we got going around 7:30. We got there around 8:15, and stuff wasn't even scheduled to start until 9-10:00. ^^; Oh well. Mike, his Crystal, and his Brad all filled out their registration forms and put "Bedwine Travellers"--the guild they keep hoping to start--in the "Planned Association for this faire" slot. I think it was finally made clear to them that they wouldn't be able to make their own guild when I smiled at them and said, "Yeah, good luck with that." When they asked what I was talking about, I said, "The whole, 'making a new guild when you're not even technically apprentices yet' thing." Well, either that, or somebody looked at their forms and said, "You've got to join a group that exists." I'm thinking of making some favors for the three of them, with some kind of "BWT" on it, so that even if the Bedwine Travellers don't take off for a while, they can all kinda look at each other and their favors and know that yeah, there's one of them. (Apparently, "Bedwine" is some kind of reference to Dune. I have yet to read the novel. Probably should fix that soon.)
Anyway, I ended up joining with the Criers. They're going to split between Southern and Corona faire, and when Corona starts, that's where I'm gonna go. Sooooo, I'm gonna be getting new skirts and stuff. Since I don't want to get a new bodice (I know that they're damned hard to make and even more expensive to buy), I'm going to keep my current one. I'm probably going to get a brown topskirt and a green bottomskirt. It might be kinda a greenish-blue, though.... I'll have crierbabes with me when I go to look at new skirts, experienced ones, so they can tell me what colors would be good and which ones wouldn't. Ohhhh, I'll probably need a new blouse, too.... Hmmm... maybe I'll just have my mom make them.... bah. Anyway. I'm a crierbabe now. Woo-hoo. Underage and a Crier. I guess they all think of me as one of them by now. I'm not the type to give them the trouble they always get with underage criers, anyway (stumbling about, pretending to be drunk *coughPrichardcough*).
So, anyway, when Mike and I got there at 8:15-ish, we saw nobody onsite, which concerned us a little. So, I called Allyce's cell phone, and asked them what kind of truck Fabian drove, because I saw a car one parking lot down which, for some reason, screamed at me, "HI! I'M FABIAN'S TRUCK! COME PARK BY ME! COME HANG OUT WITH ME!!!", but I wasn't sure. However, right when I was about to go over to see if it was Fabe, Crystal pulled up, and Mike went over to explain the situation to her. Right when I was about to suggest that we go over to see if that was Fabian's truck over there, some more Criers pulled up (Mentor, Lisa, a new guy, and Andy/Isaac), and we all started talking. I mentioned that I thought that Fabian's truck was right over there, but nobody seemed to take note. Mentor started talking about how Fabian shouldn't be late for his own meeting, and I kept saying, "Yeah, but I think that's Fabian's truck, right over there!" Finally, somebody *else* suggested that we go see if that was Fabian's truck, right over there, and we all went over and discovered that yes, it was Fabian's truck, right over there. *sigh*
So the criers had their meeting, we went up to the regular meeting, I rang a bell for the Criers (^^), and once that was done, I went to the back, where I couldn't hear a damn thing any of the other groups were saying. ^^; By the time I realized that, it was too late, anyway. Most of the other groups were done. So I was going around, hanging with the criers, hanging with the criers, and it was eventually suggested to me that I join the Criers. Ashley (guilmistress of the criers at Southern this year) said I could join if I could commit. I told her I could be at Southern up until the crossover weekends with Corona, and she let me join. ^^ So I get to be doing Faire stuff until June! Wow! I'm a little scared or something. ^^;
Anyway, after all the faire stuff was done, I called up Brother Dear and asked him if he still wanted to hang out (he'd called me the night before), as Upland is on the way home for me from Fairesite. He was cool with it, so I went to his place, found myself utterly exhausted for some reason, watched him and Washus play Magic: The Gathering a few times, declined the offers to join as I was too exhausted (and haven't played the game in at least ten years), watched some f-ed up GI Joe PSAs, watched "Shock Treatment", ate some chicken, drank too much Mountain Dew, was eventually joined by two more of Brother Dear and Washus' friends, watched in awe as a geeky sausage-fest ensued, went and ate at the Ihop not too far from us, and I eventually (around 9:20) finally got myself to get in my car and go home. Well, Tessa started making an odd noise, coming from the tires, so I pulled over into the parking lot of the Catholic bookstore on Euclid and Eighth, and I went around her, checking my tires. I thought it was a front tire, as she's been going a little flat there, but nope, lo and behold, it was my rear drivers-side tire, flat as flat could be. So I gathered my stuff, called Brother Dear, and asked him if he could get Washus and the other two guys to come down to my car and at least hover around me so I could change my tire and not risk getting attacked/molestered by some creepy guy thinking "Hehehe.... girl all alone in a parking lot...." By the time I met up with Brother Dear, the other three were already there. They ended up doing most of the work--but who was I to stop them? I mean, a bunch of geeks about to run off and have a LAN party all wanted to feel like grease monkies, just a bit. I didn't want to spoil their fun.
All in all, it was a pretty packed day, but I'm happy with how everything turned out. I'm just surprised I was so exhausted by doing essentially nothing at the Fairesite. I think I'll just chalk it up to having woken up at 6 instead of 10, like I usually do.
Here's hoping today goes well~
