"I've been alive since time began
Not beast, not god, and yet not man
I am the music and the dance
I am the piper who enchants
So loose all ties to mortal kind
My pipes shall play within thy mind
I shall be thy lover"

Bored out of my fucking skull
Current mood: bored and frustrated and slightly pissed

Yeah.... *grumble*

So the buddy I was planning on meeting at Comic Con is here, in California, at Con, and where am I? Sitting at home in front of my computer, bored out of my head, with nothing to do. I suppose I could always work on those sketches I promised for the three people on Sheezyart who actually read my journals, or at least look through Binflaggle's stuff so I can find a character of hers I can attempt to draw, but other than that.... nothing. I got these days off from work, fully intending to be down in San Diego right now, meeting Vern and Josh and some other people from SotE (and probably running into Jose at least once), but am I there? No. I don't even have enough money for gas to go down there for a day and come back. Well, I probably could, but then I'd have no gas for other, more important things, like going to school and work and so on. And what's frustrating about it is I *could* be there, but the person I was gonna go with (who I contacted with barely enough time to do something for Con to begin with) didn't get back to me until this Monday (gods, it feels like longer), saying "So, what's happening this weekend? Are we going to Comic Con? What are we going to do for a room?" She obviously needs to learn the first two rules of going to conventions: Rule one: You get your hotel room AT LEAST SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE CON IF YOU WANT A SHORT WALK TO THE CONVENTION CENTER! Rule two: You plan on going to the con AT LEAST SIX MONTHS BEFORE YOU BOOK YOUR ROOM! She was shocked that the closest hotel room (that wasn't a suite) to the con by Monday was 35 miles away. What, did she think that *nobody* is going to go to Comic-Con? *bangs head hard against a brick wall*

Vern just called, and we're still going to try to work something out so we can meet, but I explained the gas situation to him. He understood--apparently his guesstimates of gas prices were a bit too low, so he knows my woe right now. Granted, I'm a helluvalot closer to San Diego from my house than he is from his house (he lives in Tuscon... you know, Arizona), but 102 miles.... that's 204 miles round-trip, which leaves me (as I've said) pretty much no gas to do the things that are much more important than going to a con. *grumblegrowl*

Next year, I'm either going to the summer cons alone or with Brad, 'cause I know he knows the rules of Con-going as well as I do. So does Yami, and Nai.... Hmmmm.... So does Vern..... Hey, maybe I'll get a group together.... of people who know how to go to a con. *grumble*

Well, updates as time goes on. If nothing else, I'll have loads of time here to get schoolwork done. *sigh*

Ciao,
